One of three sisters here! I just posted something including my sister today as well. Your story changed my perspective on her influence. Thank you for that!!
I love this! My brother’s wisdom saved me from bailing on a PhD program when I was struggling to choose a dissertation topic. He is an artist and told me that if he made work with the idea of which gallery wall it would hang on he would never start. He helped me realize that worrying about others’ perceptions or judgments about my topic was causing me to be paralyzed. I took his advice, chose the topic that personally thrilled me, and sailed through my dissertation process at a pace my chair had never seen before.
What a favor your brother did you! And now, when you look back, you see so clearly that he saved you. He put you on the path meant for you, as only a sibling can do.
The sibling relationship is so special. One of the longest relationships we have in our lives.
Absolutely. We need to cherish them because they’re the ones who really know us!
Absolutely. And nothing prepares us for when we lose them. I lost my brother a few years ago and still grieve his absence in my life.
I am sorry for your loss. I literally don’t know what I will do when it happens to me. It is such a tender relationship.
My siblings are my favorite people in the entire world. Even when we are completely opposite in ways.
I agree. I don’t know what I would have done without them. The angels at my side.
